South Abington Township Police Department
2008 Children's Fishing Derby
Help Us Celebrate Our Thirteenth Year!
The South Abington Township Police and Maintenance Departments are planning heir thirteenth annual Children's Fishing Derby to be held on Saturday, July 12th, 2008 at the Lackawanna State Park.
T-Shirts will be sold the day of the Fishing Derby. Proceeds will go to benefit Matthew Siegler, a 3 year old boy who is a leukemia patient.
A Little History of the Annual Fishing Derby
Our first endeavor in 1996 brought 63 children and their
parents to the State Park for a day of fishing and fun. Our 2001 event was
attended by 466 children, making this one of the largest children's fishing
derbies in northeastern Pennsylvania. We hope to make this year's even even more
successful. Our goal is to provide children with an alternative to drugs and
alcohol and to enjoy a day in the great outdoors of Lackawanna County.
